Climate change impact on the coffee industry is being felt today. Not only by drinkers, with coffee prices hitting an all-time high since the 1970’s; but also for the farmers who grow it, as predictions of land suitable for growing coffee is shrinking by 50% by 2050 – meaning farmers livelihoods are at risk in a fight against climate change for the future of coffee.
Since 1986, NESCAFÉ has been invested in I&R to protect the future of coffee, with one of the main focuses on plantlets. This has led to a ground-breaking innovation through the natural crossbreeding of coffee plantlets to create more resilient seedlings.
At its core, NESCAFÉ Plantlets for Future transforms the model of how big brands can build relationships with farmers, helping them succeed in the face of climate change threats.
